Lachlan Shire Council manages public parking across the Shire to ensure residents and visitors have fair access to parking in business and shopping precincts. As part of Council’s regulatory responsibilities under NSW Government legislation, parking enforcement plays a vital role in:

  • Supporting public safety
  • Managing traffic flow
  • Ensuring equitable use of parking spaces

In recent months, Council officers have been actively addressing parking violations through a combination of warnings, education, and enforcement. Common offences include:

  • Parking in loading zones ($227 fine)
  • Parking in no stopping zones ($320 fine)
  • Parking in disabled parking spaces without a valid permit ($682 fine)
  • Parking on footpaths or nature strips ($320 fine)
  • Creating traffic obstructions
  • Abandoning vehicles or articles

The Lachlan Shire Council Parking Program 2025 aims to change driver behaviour by asking them to respect the parking signage around the Shire and to not obstruct any loading zones, disabled parking zones or other no stopping/no parking zones. Members of the public are reminded that Council Regulatory Officers can issue Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) on the spot for any traffic or parking violations.

The Parking Program will be supported by visual reminders to respect parking signage across the Shire area, social media and ongoing education and enforcement by Council Regulatory Officers.
