Information about kerbside waste collection services and Council's disposal depots.

Find My Bin Day

A kerbside waste collection service is available to residents within the Domestic Waste Collection Zones of Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo, Albert, Fifield, Derriwong, Tullibigeal, Murrin Bridge and Tottenham.

Your garbage bin (red lid) is serviced every week.

Your recycling (yellow lid) bin is serviced on alternate weeks (Week A or Week B) and is collected fortnightly on the same day as your garbage bin. 

Condobolin residents only: Your organics (green lid) bin is serviced on the alternate week to your recycling bin and is collected fortnightly on the same day as your other bins. 

To ensure your bins are serviced, please put your bins out prior to 5:30am or put them out the night before.

General Waste Information

Bin Placement Guidelines  

To assist drivers, face bin-lid openings to the road and ensure bins are half (½) a metre apart and placed no further than half (½) a metre from the road. Keep bins clear of any obstacles such as cars, mailboxes or trees. 

The contents of each bin must not weigh more than 70kg (kilograms), or they will not be collected. Bins over 70kg will cause damage to the truck’s lifting arm.

Missing or Stolen Bins 

Before reporting a missing or stolen bin, please check your street and ensure that your neighbours have not taken your bin by mistake.

Garbage Bin (red lid)

Your garbage bin (red lid) is serviced every week.

What goes in the general garbage bin (red lid)?

The following items are accepted in your garbage bin; 

  • Bagged garbage
  • Soft plastics such as plastic bags or packets/wrappers 
  • Tissues or paper towels
  • Food scraps
  • Garden materials e.g. grass clippings, small branches, weeds etc.
  • Shoes, clothes or textiles
  • Polystyrene (foam)
  • Nappies, wipes and hygiene products 
  • Shredded paper
  • Non-recyclable hard plastic such as toys, buckets, plant pots and washing baskets
  • Crockery and cutlery   
  • Ceramics
  • Drinking glasses 
  • Window glass/mirrors 
  • Metal household items such as pans and coat hangers
  • Waxed paper/cardboard
  • Bagged animal droppings
  • Disposable coffee cups

What can't I put in my Garbage Bin (red lid)?

The following items are not accepted in your garbage bin; 

  • Recyclables
  • Medical waste and syringes 
  • Building materials, e.g. bricks 
  • Soil and rocks
  • Batteries 
  • Electronic waste (E-waste)
  • Asbestos 
  • Large metal objects, e.g. engine blocks
  • Tyres
  • Chemicals and chemical drums
  • Motor oil
  • Pressurised containers, e.g. Fire extinguishers and gas bottles
  • Paint
  • Fluoro globes and tubes
  • Motor oils and other oils

Household hazardous waste can be dropped off free of charge at the Condobolin Waste Facility, Boona Road. Hazardous waste items include: batteries, fluoro globes and tubes, oils and paint. 

What happens to my garbage?

After your garbage bin is collected, your waste is taken to Condobolin Waste Facility.

All the waste materials from the red lid garbage bins are buried in landfill.  Recyclables or other recoverable materials that are placed into the garbage bin will not be sorted.

 

 

Recycling Bin (yellow lid)

Your recycling bin (yellow lid) is serviced fortnightly.

What can I put in my recycling bin (yellow lid)?

The following material types are accepted in your recycling bin;

  • Hard plastic bottles and containers from your kitchen, bathroom and laundry
  • Clean paper and cardboard
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminium such as soft drink cans, empty aerosol cans and clean foil (collect and roll foil into a ball – at least as big as a tennis ball before recycling)
  • Steel cans, tin cans and aerosols.

What can’t I put in my recycling bin (yellow lid)? 

The following items are not accepted in your recycling bin;

  • Bagged garbage
  • Soft plastics such as plastic bags or packets/wrappers
  • Recycling in plastic bags 
  • Food scraps
  • Hazardous waste such as batteries, paint and oil
  • Garden/green waste
  • Polystyrene (foam)

What happens to my recycling? 

Recyclables collected from your yellow lid recycling bin are transported to Dubbo for processing, and sorted at a Visy’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Smithfield.

Once recyclables have been sorted at the MRF, they are ready to be processed on-site, or sent to specialised processing facilities for manufacturing into new products. 

Organics Bin (green lid)

In Condobolin, the organics bin (green lid) is serviced fortnightly on the alternate week to the recycling bin.

What can I put in my organics bin (green lid)? 

The following material types are accepted in your organics bin:

  • Grass clippings
  • Leaves
  • Twigs and branches
  • Flowers 

What can’t I put in my organics bin (green lid)? 

  • Garbage
  • Recyclables
  • Soft plastics such as plastic bags or packets/wrappers
  • Food waste
  • Compostable bags
  • Gardening equipment such as plant pots, hoses or tools

What happens to my green waste? 

Green waste collected from your green lid organics bin are transported to the Condobolin Waste Facility for shredding. The organic waste then undergoes maturation via a process called ‘windrowing’ and is converted into high-quality compost.

Once the green waste has fully decomposed into compost, it is ready for use on-site at the Condobolin Waste Facility.
