Modification to Development Application (DA) 2011/18
Integrated and Designated Development
Current DA Approval: Mining to construct and use the Pearse Open Cut to extract gold ore for processing within the existing, approved processing plant.
Ancillary activities include:
- construction and use of the Pearse Waste Rock emplacement for management of waste rock from the Pearse Open Cut,
- the Southern Tailings Storage Facility for the management of tailings from the Pearse Open Cut and other approved mining areas at Mineral Hill,
- associated infrastructure, including a haul road and water management structures
- extraction of tailings from Tailings Storage Facility 1 (TSF1).
- reprocessing of extracted tailings using the existing, approved processing plant.
- the use of the existing approved Tailings Storage Facility 2 (TSF2) for permanent storage of reprocessed tailings.
- the use of extracted embankment material from TSF1, as well as waste rock material from elsewhere within the Mine Site, for construction of upstream lifts on TSF2.
- the rehabilitation of the TSF1 footprint
Modification Application: Proposed alterations to the Tailings Dam wall. This involves changing the boundaries of a Mining Licence to allow construction of the final wall of a tailings dam. Mining Licences ML337 and 1695 are proposed to extend 17m to the south and 11m to the east to accommodate the alterations to the tailings dam wall which requires an increase of 7.5ha to the currently approved maximum area of disturbance of 16.8ha to a new maximum area of 24.3ha.
