Australia Day

Australia Day is a special day in the Lachlan Shire community.

Celebrations are held at venues at each town and village throughout the Shire each year. 

Local Australia Day Awards are announced at the official Australia Day Ceremony by the Australia Day Ambassador.

In 2026 this ceremony will be held in Lake Cargelligo.

Australia Day Award Nominations 2026

Each year the people of Lachlan Shire Council are invited to nominate fellow citizens for the NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards. The awards recognise outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years. It is the perfect opportunity to honour people who make a difference in our community.

  • Lachlan Shire Citizen of the Year
  • Lachlan Shire Young Citizen of the Year
  • Lachlan Shire Community Service Award (Australia Day Award)
  • Lachlan Shire Sportsperson of the Year
  • Lachlan Shire Event of the Year
  • Lachlan Shire Environmental Citizen of the Year

To make a nomination, you need to download and print a Nomination Form(PDF, 94KB). If you wish to save your completed form electronically, you will need to print it once filled out, as the form cannot be saved filled out.

 

Nomination forms can also be collected from Lachlan Shire Council Offices in Condobolin and Lake Cargelligo, the Tottenham Post Office, Tullibigeal Co-op, Burcher Hotel and the Fifield Hotel.

 

All nominations must be received by Council by 4:30pm on Friday, 14 November 2025.
