Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to announce the new Burcher Transfer Station is now open, providing residents of Burcher and surrounding rural areas with a local option for the disposal of general household waste.

The project was delivered with funding support from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Landfill Consolidation and Environmental Improvements Grants Program. This investment has enabled Council to improve local waste management infrastructure while delivering important environmental benefits for the Burcher community and surrounding district.

The new transfer station operates alongside the existing household waste collection service within the Burcher township, providing residents with an additional option for managing household waste.

The facility has been designed as a practical and sustainable waste management solution for the community, while helping Council manage waste services responsibly into the future.

Lachlan Shire Council Mayor John Medcalf OAM said the opening of the transfer station provided an important service for the Burcher community.

“The new transfer station provides Burcher residents with a practical and sustainable way to manage their household waste, while maintaining access to an essential service.

“Council appreciates the community’s patience while these works have been completed and is pleased to see the new facility now available for residents to use, providing a more sustainable approach to local waste management.”

The Burcher Transfer Station is available for the disposal of general household waste from residents of Burcher and surrounding rural properties.
