LEVEL 1 WATER RESTRICTIONS TOTTENHAM, ALBERT & B-SECTION PIPELINE

Level 3 Water Restrictions are now lifted for water consumers along the B-Section Pipeline, Albert and Tottenham, with Level 1 Water Restrictions now in place.

The restrictions were introduced in February earlier this year due to a lightning strike that damaged electrical and control-system components of the Tottenham Reservoir. The restrictions were held in place while the replacement components were installed and repairs completed to the Tottenham Reservoir. In addition to these repairs, Tottenham and Albert have been the recipient of a number of water security improvements in recent months, including commissioning of the new Albert Reservoir and demolition of the old Reservoir, telemetry upgrades, replacement of flowmeters at Tottenham Reservoir and Leg O’ Mutton Dam upgrade.

Even with these improvement works, and Water Restrictions reduced to Level 1, Council would like to take the opportunity, to remind residents to be using water efficiently and conserving water where possible.

Level 1 Water Restrictions

During summer, residential and non-residential users can:

• Water lawns and gardens daily between 6pm to 9am AEDT.

• Irrigate new turf for up to one week after laying, after which the above point applies.

• Washing cars at home with bucket and rinsing with trigger hose on lawn between 9am to 12pm any day.

• Topping up and filling garden water features, swimming pools and spas.

• General household usage.

The following activities are not permitted:

• Washing down walls and paved surfaces.

For further details on activities that are permitted or prohibited at different restriction levels, download the water restrictions tables on Council’s website:

Why conserve water?

Water is a precious resource that we need to use wisely.

• It’s better for the environment - by using water efficiently rivers keep flowing, dams stay full, and groundwater supplies stay healthy for wildlife and plants.

• It’s better for the Planet - capturing, treating and pumping less water to our homes uses less energy.

• It’s better for the bank balance - reducing your water bills and by using less hot water, reduces your energy bills as well.
