Published on 23 December 2025

Residents in Burcher are advised that Level 6 water restrictions have been implemented, effective immediately.  These restrictions are due to the limited town water supply remaining.

Residents are reminded that Burcher town water is a raw water supply and must not to be used for household purposes (food preparation, showering, drinking) due to the health risk presented from bacteria.

Under Level 6 Water Restrictions, the town water supply may be used for flushing toilets.
All outdoor water use is not permitted.

For business customers, a Water Saving Action Plan (WSAP) must be implemented and complied with for certain activities.

For further details on activities that are permitted or prohibited at different restriction levels, download the water restrictions tables on Council’s website:

Why conserve water?

Water is a precious resource that we need to use wisely.

  • It’s better for the environment - by using water efficiently rivers keep flowing, dams stay full, and groundwater supplies stay healthy for wildlife and plants.
  • It’s better for the Planet - capturing, treating and pumping less water to our homes uses less energy.
  • It’s better for the bank balance - reducing your water bills and by using less hot water, reduces your energy bills as well.
