Lachlan Shire Economic Profile
Lachlan Shire is one of the largest in New South Wales, having an area of over 15,000 square kilometres. Located in the centre of NSW, the administration centre is based at Condobolin, whilst other towns and villages included in the Shire are Tottenham, Lake Cargelligo, Tullibigeal, Albert, Burcher and Fifield. Lachlan Shire Council's mission is to meet the needs of the community by providing sustainable services and establishing a long term strategy that leads to the social and economic success of Lachlan Shire.
The 2006 ABS Australian Business Register indicated that there were 1,269 businesses in the Lachlan region (i.e. postcodes 2672, 2873, 2875, 2877). Of these, 837 businesses (or 66.0%) were contained within the goods sector of the economy, whilst the remaining 432 businesses (or 34.0%) were in service industries. In terms of business numbers by industry, the Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing industry division recorded the highest proportion of total businesses in the Lachlan region, with 798 businesses (or 62.9% of the total). Other prominent industries in the region included the Property & Business Services and Retail Trade (both 7.6%), Construction (4.3%) and Transport & Storage (3.5%) sectors.

Lachlan Shire is providing collection points for this purpose in the foyer of the Condobolin Shire office, the Condobolin Library, the Library in Lake Cargelligo, Tottenham Post Office, Burcher Post Office and the Tullibigeal Co-op. You can dispose of your old phones, batteries and accessories. Council urges everyone to make use of this facility, as it's an excellent "green" move.
