Visit Gum Bend Lake Condobolin
Welcome to Gum Bend Lake
Gum Bend Lake is a free recreational ground which provides free camping set in beautiful surroundings. We warmly welcome and cater for all visitors including Freedom Campers.
Gum Bend Lake is a manmade lake. Opened on 22 October 1988, Gum Bend Lake was a project to commemorate Australia’s bicentenary and was jointly funded by the NSW Bicentennial Council, the people of Condobolin and the Lachlan Shire Council.
Gum Bend Lake is ideal for water skiing, canoeing and fishing and is also popular with bird watchers with the Lachlan River nearby. Caution is encouraged in undertaking these recreational pursuits.
Freedom camping at Gum Bend Lake is a maximum 14 day stay with facilities that include picnic tables, free BBQ, playground, toilet, hot showers and a large camping area to the east of the Lake to take a break and enjoy.
Work on the Gum Bend Lake amenities will commence on Thursday 13 May 2021. During the construction period, temporary toilet facilities will be available however, there will be no shower facilities provided. Shower facilities are available at Riverview Caravan Park for a small fee.
Facilities are maintained by Lachlan Shire Council and Gum Bend Lake is inspected on a regular basis. Only the Council’s Regulations Officer has the delegations to advise campers to move on if the 14 day stay has been exhausted.
All vehicles, caravans, camper trailers and water craft must be registered. Please also adhere to the current NSW fire restrictions.
Please be aware that the depth of the Lake varies.
Pets are welcome on leads everywhere other than on the bank and for safety purposes we have a no glass policy on the lake or on its banks.
There are number of donations boxes at Gum Bend Lake, your donations and feedback are appreciated and will assist Council in maintaining and developing this facility further. The new BBQ's and Picnic Shelters are an example of what your donations help to achieve. Further plans include a walking track around the lake, outdoor fitness equipment and environmental salinity control - Please send further ideas and feedback to council@lachlan.nsw.gov.au and attention it to the Gum Bend Lake Committee.
