Speeding; It's not worth the costs!
The Speeding: It's not worth the costs! campaign was developed by the Youth Road Safety Team for their peers. It consisted of three distinct phases; data collection, public education and evaluation and aimed to increase awareness of the dangers and consequences of speeding.
The data collection stage involved establishing the Team, applying for additional grant funding from the MAA and a pre campaign awareness survey.
The public education phase included designing a logo, holding a design a speeding poster competition, a public launch, attending the MAA Arrive Alive forum, organising a youth speeding forum in Parkes, developing and distributing promotional material, meeting with local road safety stakeholders, media coverage, media advertising, radio competitions, writing and recording Community Service Announcements, the use of speed monitors on the targeted streets, police enforcement, presentations to each of the Councils, attending the NRMA Youth Forum in Orange and the Focus Group run by the Commission for Children and Young People.
The evaluation stage involved the post campaign awareness survey and collecting media coverage. This data was then analysed to determine whether the project met its objective and a Final Report was written. If you would like a copy of the Final Report please contact the Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer via the contact details below.
