On-farm landfill and waste disposal information
For generations some framers have filled depressions, washaways and gullies with their farm and household wastes. Due to the high importance of a clean and healthy environment, sound waste disposal practices are essential.
On farm solid waste disposal can result in the pollution of both groundwater and surface water as well as aggravating erosion problems. The fact that agriculture is the dominant landuse within the Lachlan Shire equates to an increased importance of sound waste management practices.
The key object of this brochure and on-farm landfill audit is to increase awareness regarding the importance of waste management on farms.
